The internet is stocked full with a great deal of creativity, talent and brains. With each passing day, you stumble into an awe-inspiring act of creativity, and you just have to stop and say, “wow, that just made my day!”
Bob Gill once said, “I think the fun of being a graphic designer is to do something original, to make images no one’s ever seen before. And the only way you’re going to do that is to avoid what the culture tells you is good. There is no good. The good comes from what does the job…”
One might argue otherwise, especially in a society where we’re obsessed with “perfect” when it comes to our photos and particularly, movie posters (after all, a great number of us have, at some point, fantasized about how our lives would be like in a Hollywood movie).
Luckily, a particular graphic designer decided to take exception to this norm. He, as Bob Gill suggested, does something original by making original images out of “nothing”.
Meet Reddit user Your_Post_As_A_Movie, who takes people’s average pictures and transforms them into stunningly beautiful and eye-catching movie posters.
He doesn’t just stop there; he includes a few bits of information like release dates, real actor (and actresses) names, a director, movie producer and a witty tagline.
The photos he uses are randomly selected from random pictures posted on the subreddit /r/pics, one of the largest sources of photos on Reddit.
They range from pictures of cats to a garden covered with snow to a bunch of flowers, to a ball of glass – just about any picture gets the job done.
This guy works on them and the result is surprising. They look like a real Hollywood movie poster.
Another cool thing about what this guy does is that the posters he creates tell you a story without having to even watch the “movie”.
A lot of people on the internet were totally unaware of the fact that these posters were just pure imagination and creativity. Some even went as far as to say that they couldn’t wait to get their hands on the movie.
It wouldn’t be much of a surprise if a real movie was released, with the idea – and of course, poster design – taken from Your_Post_As_A_Movie’s creations. After all, they’re the real deal.
So, if you’ve always imagined your life as a Hollywood movie, the right time to start posting your photos on /r/pics is now.
Maybe finally, you could get the “happily ever after” you’ve always wanted for your movie ending, with a great title and breathtaking movie poster crafted from one of the best creative minds on the internet.
And maybe your movie will go on to win a lot of Oscars and get lots of recognition.
